I spent this cold and wet night walking around the city of Melbourne taking photos of the lights reflecting in the wet streets. It had actually been a great night as I’ve always loved the bleak futuristic cyberpunk vibes it evoked like something out of Blade Runner. Yet I was missing that one photo I wanted and that was because even though it had been raining and the roads were wet, it hadn’t actually rained while I was there.
Then, as I was warming the car up and demisting the windows before the long drive home, the heavens opened up and the rain teamed down. I had to get the shot. I grabbed the camera and ran into the road. With no time to get the umbrella, I used my body, hunched over the camera, to protect it from the rain. I got my shot and darted back to the car. Dripping wet, freezing cold and soaked to the bone, I made my way home, satisfied with the shots I got.
