While working for WIN Television in Albury, NSW, I managed to organise a video shoot at the Albury airport and to have a car race past this magnificent old vintage plane that was parked just off the runway. There were some things about working in a country town that were great. I can’t imagine getting away with this at Melbourne airport.
The planes is a KLM – Royal Dutch Airlines PH-AJU/44 Douglas DC-2-112 c/n 1286 ‘Uiver’. A genuine rare DC-2. This one is only a replica of the famous “Uiver”. Ex RAAF A30-11 a RAAF Serials Numbers Series 2 aircraft.
